About Us

In 1996, Liberty Bible Church of Chesterton, IN, commissioned a group of people to start a new church in Portage, IN.  Even before they opened their church, this group of people, which became Family Bible Church, decided to one day do the same thing as Liberty did - plant a new church in a neighboring community.  Family Bible Church's vision was realized seven years later when BridgePoint Church opened for public worship in Hobart, IN, in the Fall of 2003.

BridgePoint's core group, mainly composed of Family Bible Church members, began as three couples meeting in Pastor Scott Lothery's home.  The group grew in attendance to 75 people meeting monthly on Sunday nights and increased to 120 people when the church held its Opening Day Sunday morning service. 

From the beginning the church has strived to be contemporary in style, relevant to the needs of real people, and based on the unchanging good news of Jesus Christ.  As a result, BridgePoint has experienced further growth in Sunday morning attendance to an average of 150 people and shifted the focus of its ministry from Hobart to all of the towns that surround Union Township.  Many hearts have already been touched.  Many lives have already been transformed.  The church is looking forward with great anticipation to many years of fruitful ministry in Northwest Indiana for the glory of God and the joy of the people who live here.
