About Us

In 1996, Liberty Bible Church of Chesterton, IN, commissioned a group of people to start a new church in Portage, IN.  Even before they opened their church, this group of people, which became Family Bible Church, decided to one day do the same thing as Liberty did - plant a new church in a neighboring community.  Family Bible Church's vision was realized seven years later when BridgePoint Church opened for public worship in Hobart, IN, in the Fall of 2003.

BridgePoint's core group, mainly composed of Family Bible Church members, began as three couples meeting in Pastor Scott Lothery's home.  The group grew in attendance meeting monthly on Sunday nights and increased when the church held its Opening Day Sunday morning service. 

From the beginning the church has strived to be contemporary in style, relevant to the needs of real people, and based on the unchanging good news of Jesus Christ.  As a result, BridgePoint has experienced further growth in Sunday morning attendance and shifted the focus of its ministry from Hobart to Valparaiso.  Many hearts have already been touched.  Many lives have already been transformed.  The church is looking forward with great anticipation to many years of fruitful ministry in Northwest Indiana for the glory of God and the joy of the people who live here.
